Filmed by Stephane Cadorin at the legendary Rascasse
bar in Monte Carlo, Blah Blah live is an honest warts-and-all
portrait of the band playing songs from their album
Tellitlikeitis.
“It was organised with the usual Blah precision,” says Alan Roberts. “We were playing a covers set at midnight and therefore had arrived at 5pm to set up and discuss the filming with Stephane. The bar was sealed off and away we went. Unfortunately it was the first time we had ever played the album live, so some of the performances were a little shaky to say the least, but I think as a record of where we were then it is perfect.
It is always hard to listen to live performances for a singer, because you know you can always be more in tune or remember that lyric you busked! But you just have to let it go and try to hear it as a whole. In the end, we managed to knock out the set well in time for a steak and a glass of champagne before starting our ‘dayjob’! And we musn’t forget that we were adequately aided in the job by the world’s best bar-man JAY!!!”
The film includes a new song ,”Lion-hearted Pussycat” which was recorded for the album but not included as Alan Roberts thought his demo version was better!!
Here's "Lion-hearted Pussycat" on video! If you can't see it, you need Quicktime from Apple, available free for PCs and Macs.
