This is the Story of a Band

But more than that it's the story of the search for the true spirit of Rock’n’Roll

It started way back in the heady summer of 1998 , in the South of France, when four English musicians, tired of the music business and years of working with original bands to get a hit, arrived for a summer season to play covers in bars and re-discover their love of music. They went on to set the local scene on fire and with over 250 gigs a year became a band of the highest calibre.

With two Alans at the core of the band (Hardman on drums, and Roberts the front-man ) they stuck to their quest , and after a succession of guitar players and bassists , arrived at their present line-up after recruiting two Frenchmen ( Lionel Baldassare on bass and Stephane Benguigui on guitar ).

“Everything seemed to fall into place when we found our present line-up,” says Alan Roberts. “It seemed as if we had found something beyond music! You’d be half-way through a song, and suddenly, nothing else would exist in the world but the sound we were creating!! I’d be drenched in sweat and alcohol having a spiritual experience in a bar!!! And we wouldn’t be the only ones racked in goose-pimples.”

The band in full flight

"The one true friend we have made over here is the very talented, and highly under-rated Julian Lennon who has been a great help to us over the years and gave me a song for the album," recounts Alan.

Audiences found it easy to empathise with the band and could see how much they enjoyed playing. The local glitterati also wanted to rub shoulders with the band. From racing drivers, tennis players, football stars, royalty, and rock’n’rollers, to the many female wannabies that flock to the Cote d’Azur in summertime, all wanted a piece of the band.

Blah Blah playing live

But don’t get Alan wrong, celebrity does not really impress them. “We’ve heard so much bullshit come out of the mouths of so-called celebrities and high-flyers with regards to helping us out that we learnt our lesson the hard way… don’t believe what anyone says they are gonna do for you when they are pissed!”

The band remain content to ply their trade in bars and clubs , but now feel ready to expand their horizons at last with the first official release of their album Tellitlikeitis. With contributions from Julian Lennon, Sean Harris of Diamond Head fame, James Hall, Babypaul, Andy Price, and the Futrille brothers, as well as their own songs, they have an album of which they can be proud.

“It took us a long time to get the hunger back to want to get involved in the business again, but the album has proved to us that we have something to offer to the record buying public.”

They went looking for the true spirit of Rock’n’Roll only to find it in their own hearts and souls, and have emerged as the ultimate band. Ask anyone who has seen them!!

Blah Blah are the genuine article, so go and see them do what they do best … Entertain!!
